You've gotta check out this tutorial on Sew, Mama, Sew! She does a wonderful tutorial on machine appliqueing. It is very thorough, and gives all the information a person needs to know. I'm so glad I came across it tonight because I've been trying to think of a special gift to make for a friend that's having a baby soon (she'll be induced on Saturday if she doesn't have it on her own by then... bring on the jumping jacks!). So now I've decided I'm gonna do a baby quilt that's personalized for baby Brodie. I can't wait, I love it when I finally make a decision on something. Unfortunately now is when the real work starts...
After this post I will officially be caught up on pictures relating to my older posts. I guess that means I'm gonna have to think of some new material. Any ideas? This is going to sound totally random, but I want to do a post on sewing with lycra and spandex. I have been wanting to make myself a swimming suit for a long time (I actually did make one back in the day), and I had to alter one that I bought recently. I honestly did a lot of googling to find out as much as I could about the needles, thread, etc, and there just isn't much info about it on the web. Let's just say my first experience with wooly nylon was a bit wooly! What's wooly nylon, you ask? Well you will just have to wait and learn all about it when I do that post.
I know that I probably do more writing about what I plan to post than actually posting things, but I have a slight problem with procrastination and if I write about it first, then I'm committed.
So this is the shopping cart cover I made. Wyatt loves it as you can tell. I took this picture at the end of our trip to Target and surprisingly he still has a rather pleasant look on his face. Probably because I let him hold and chew on the Off insectant repellant bottle. Don't worry, I watched him closely... except when we were driving home.

What could be worse than going without a camera cord for two months, then finally discovering the cord for the video camera works, unfortunately only two hours after finally ordering a new cord off of Ebay? I'll tell you what could be worse: after all that I just described, finding the stupid original cord that I thought I left in Arizona while we moved to Virginia for the summer in plain sight in our only container that I would have originally packed it in, that I'm sure I looked in multiple times on many different occasions. I knew I wouldn't have forgotten to pack it! Seriously...
I know they say that you have a "pregnancy brain" when you are pregnant, but no one tells you it gets worse after having the baby. I seriously think I've lost half of my brain cells. At least he's worth it!

I thought it would be fun to do a poll of your favorite online fabric stores. I have my usuals that I look at, but I know there are always more out there that I haven't stumbled across yet. Let me know, I think it would be fun to hear what sites other people like to shop.
I'll start: this one is kinda vague, but I've always had good luck with Ebay. It seems like there is always someone selling clearance fabric, and I'm kind of a cheapo. Okay I'm a big cheapo... not the kind of cheapo that doesn't care about if it's quality as long as it's cheap, the kind of cheapo that wants the best quality for a fraction of it's normal value, even if it's not realistic. Don't even let my sisters get started on that. They're major hoity-toits. Just kidding, I only said that because I always tell them to read my blog, and now if they don't tell me they are offended then I know that they are lying when they say that they do read it. That being said, I hope they are offended.
Anyway, the floor is yours...

Yes I am. After so much fuss about my stinkin camera cord, as I was putting our video camera away today, I had a little looksee at one of the cords for it, and thought "hmmm, this looks kinda like the cord for my camera." What do ya know, it works! Too bad I discovered it after going without a camera cord for two months, and even worse, discovering it only hours after I finally ordered a new cord. I guess that's how it goes. If anyone is missing a cord, let me know, I apparently like to collect them!
Here's some pics of the apron that I wrote about earlier today. It's made so that it can have a low waist, or it can be easily folded up to have a higher waist. I sewed the band around the waistline so that if you fold it to make a higher waist you cannot tell. I think I like the higher waist better.
Higher waist, tied in back.
Lower waist, tied in front.
I think I found my new project to be OCD about for a while. Making aprons! Today is my friend's birthday and I wanted to make her something special. She cooks a lot, and has at least several people over for dinner pretty much every day, so I thought a cute apron would be fun for her to have. It was really fun to make and now I'm excited to make more. My mother-in-law's birthday is coming up soon, so I think I'll make one for her, and also one for my mom too since her birthday was a couple of weeks ago and I will be seeing her in a couple of weeks. Hopefully neither of them checks my blog in the next couple of weeks!
The best part about aprons is there is so many different variations that can be done. I basically just sketched out a few ideas, and although I would change a few things same next time, I'm really happen with how it turned out.
I just left this posting to order a camera cord, so there will definitely be pictures very soon. I'm sure you are all very excited, I really like to build the suspense. If you can't tell, I also really like to toot my own horn!
p.s. I know I said this is not a personal blog (and it's not), but here's a picture of my cute little boy since I don't have my other pictures to post yet.

Okay, not really, but here are some pics from the Ikea fabric projects that I did (gulp) months ago. We've moved for the summer and somehow I think my camera cord had the same fate as Angie's did a while ago so I have to get the pictures put onto CD before I can use them.
This is the table runner I made (when I say "made", I really mean I just had to hem the two ends... that's right, not even 4 sides, just two ends):
p.s. I really do have 4 chairs for my table, I'm not sure where they were when I took this picture!
And here is the 2nd wall hanging I made. After making it I decided it is a little too dorm-roomish for my likings, but it at least makes the wall a little less big and white for now. Plus, I don't even live in that house right now, so maybe absence will make the heart grow fonder?!
